Classic Northern Rhone style. Bright black fruit, violet, a hint of smoked meat and black pepper/olive. Mid weight, fresh acidity and well structured. Definitely a cut above standard Cali Syrah. Classic wine from a classic producer — 9 years ago
Bright, salty and refreshing. — 5 years ago
39.97 from new season. Balanced. Round. Worth the price. Would buy again — 6 years ago
These are Night 2 notes. A little smoky underbrush note accents some nice plummy fruit. Very Right Bank-like. Everything in balance in the mouth. Some cracked-stone minerality introduces the fruit. A little pepperiness in the mouth from the alcohol shows through, but it may simply be because it’s warm tonight. A bit of tannin to add some structure, but the finish is all beautifully pure and elegant Merlot fruit. Great value. — 7 years ago
Interesting. Big flavor with tartness that causes a little pucker — 8 years ago
Fresh tarmac and cooked berry on the nose. Very focused grenache. This wine makes me aware of Monterey's potential. Very good but I'm not sure I'd pay $48 a bottle for it. — 8 years ago
Soft notes of mocha and light coffee roast with gentle dusty tannins an earthy core and light red fruit mingling with smoked meat. The finish is peppery but elegant — 6 years ago
Fantastic wine. Seamless, very long. Honeyed note on the finish. — 7 years ago
2011 vintage. Very fresh, light- to medium-bodied blend. High-toned, red fruit-driven with that Carignan herbal quality. Cranberry, red plum, pomegranate, raspberry, fresh sage and tarragon, tobacco, tart cherry. 56 Carignan 28 Mourvèdre 9 Grenache 6 Syrah 1 Zinfandel. — 7 years ago

Drank with onion and pepper brats and peach, tomato, and corn salad at Grand Lake cousin’s camp (2021). Light mouthfeel, hint of pepper and spice, but the spice might be the peppers. Raspberry, strawberry, and mild blueberries. Lighter than my style but good with the brats and good fruit. — 4 years ago
