Winery notes, Sun Chase Vineyard is planted on the west-facing hillside where the cool Petaluma Gap collides with Sonoma Mountain, this site overlooks a broad sweep of the county from the San Pablo Bay to north Santa Rosa. Our Chardonnay block with an east-west row aspect sits on a sun-drenched, rocky incline at 1000' where fruit yields are naturally limited with small clusters and aromatic fruit. Technical Notes: 76 clone, Whole-cluster pressing, 100% native yeast primary fermentation, 100% wild malolactic fermentation, 11 months in low toast, air-dry 3-year-old French oak, 25% new."

I did not expect much of this wine; purchased for the purpose of supporting a good cause after the Santa Rosa fires. I didn’t even decant it for the recommended hour (saw that too late), but the wine was full bodied and the nose was leathery. Was an amazing wine and can’t wait to see how these age. Definitely will try again when we smoke Tri Tip for dinner one night. — 8 years ago
Rich and lively, like a good 80’s song. Always happy with the wines from Presqu’ile. Cherries on cherries on cherries. I don’t know why, but this bottling always makes me think of November. — 8 years ago
This Les Vignots is a very good, four square, blood making Pommard that is nothing like other 2013's I have had. It was dark, loaded with fruit, had good tannin and acid balance and a real synergy with our duck and fig sausages. We tried this with Spanish cheese as well, which turned it into a fruit bomb that wouldn't be out of place in Santa Lucia! — 8 years ago
My first time trying the 2017 Estate, the latest release from this tiny yet remarkable producer way up on Bonny Doon Road. The wines from McHenry vineyard typically show their best with 5-10 years of age but I love to try them in their youth, you know...for science. I opened this bottle about three hours before dinner and allowed it to slow-ox in the cellar. At first, the aromas were predominately red fruited in profile; strawberries and spices…almost like a Christmas fruitcake. However, the profile evolved in the glass and with more air, this began to take on a darker fruit profile that I find to be more characteristic of McHenry’s wines. This is a beautifully perfumed wine. On the palate, this is very bright and full of precocious energy. Plums and red berries with baking spices and minerals. Tannins are medium at best but there is no shortage of acid, which is a hallmark for this estate, ensuring that the 2017’s will in all likelihood enjoy a long life. Excellent now and likely to be a stunner down the road. Only 100 cases were made. — 5 years ago
Wow, delicious and very smooth. Big flavour, not as much acidity as some Rosé s. a new fave! — 6 years ago
Perfect on a mid 60’s Bay Area day with slight breeze in the sun — 8 years ago
Cherry nose with more cherry, strawberry, rhubarb pie and minerals on the palate. When I first opened the bottle the taste was muted on the back end and a little disappointing in the finish. The wine opened up nicely, though. For a Californian Pinot the finish is above average on the tannic side, but a little light on the acid. I recommend decanting this 2013. In all very solid. — 8 years ago
Enjoyed a bottle at La Gare in Santa Rosa. — 8 years ago
Silky smooth lyrics come together with wind through the pine herbals. Big bowl of cherries aromatics and glowing ruby highlights in the glass. Integrated acidity and snapshots capture the action like a 90's skateboard magazine. Pairs well with road trips to the redwoods. — 8 years ago

II’ve loved all the Sandhi 2012 range of whites & this £65 S&B is superb 👍 Paired with enough curry to get a small village going regular for a week 🤣 💨 sorry I didn’t take pics of that feast 😁
