One of the best 😎 — 7 years ago
Still very primary, brimming with blackberry fruit. Well balanced structure, refreshing acidity, moderate alcohol and very present tannins. Generously oaked but the intensity of the fruit keeps things balanced. — 7 years ago
From a magnum. Still lots of youth in this. — 8 years ago

Cardela, Bodega Bohórquez, Peñafiel- Ribera del Duero. Mi puntuación va en función del precio de este vino. Está a la altura de vinos al doble del precio. Una gran adquisición — 9 years ago

Getting past its prime. Still love the funk. — 4 years ago
Apples, tropical fruits and grass with great balance of acidity and minerality. Was excellent with truffel flavoured soft cheese and baguette — 7 years ago
Different Ribera Del Duero Tempranillo. Licorice finish. Full bodied and fruit forward. Great with Ribeye at Costa Brava in Bellaire, Texas. — 8 years ago

The winery is located near the town of Peñafiel, and its name Oreja (ear) comes from the fact that Convento is located on a bend in the Duero river. This exagerated bend/oxbow is referred to as an oreja or ear shaped. Deep red with purple edges and aromas of red fruits and spice. The palate shows plum and Berry flavors with vanilla spice, cacao and espresso beans. Well balanced soft tannins give way to nice medium+ finish. — 9 years ago
The 2009 vintage is 100% Tempranillo and 14%ABV. From Ribera del Duero DO and vinified Crianza style with 15 months bottle aging subsequent to 1.5 years in French Oak barrels. This wine is elegant and integrated at only 7 years since fruit cultivation. This wine is rich and luscious with deep red fruit of cherry and red berry, baking spice, olive brine, and a hint of fresh cut spruce tips. This wine would be a perfect accompaniment for a Canadian Christmas tree ritual or a festive holiday evening dinner party with braised beef AAA pot roast or rack of lamb and braised root vegetables. With well balanced fruit, medium acidity and medium tannins this wine brings complex aromatics as well as refined mouthfeel of finesse to a structured backbone and elegant minerality. With persistence of briny green olives, deep ripe red berry and spice, this wine has a long finish which keeps giving back. Giving a festive Canadian twist, recommend pairing with Schwartz Montreal Smoked Meat brisket and Kosher pickles. — 9 years ago
Solid wine. Very good nose of oak and red fruits, you can somehow sense it's a wine with some class and age. It has a warm and full palate, with long lingering finish. It has a good bite and aroma on its own. — 4 years ago
Dark ruby in color with a short purple rim.
Strong nose of black currants, cherries, sweet strawberries, light oak, chocolates, peppercorn, dark coffee, tobacco leaf, earth, herbs, spices and black pepper.
Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity and nice legs.
Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, chocolates, coffee, earth, vanilla, licorice, spices, oak, light vegetables and peppercorn.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy pomegranates.
This is a nice surprise. This 7 year old Tempranillo from Spain is drinking very nicely now.
Nicely balanced and tangy, with a nice mouthfeel. Fruit forward and enjoyable by itself or with food.
This 100% Tempranillo is good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up (30 minutes), and shows some tannins. Becomes very tangy on the mid palate, after 2 hours in the decanter.
I paired it with a charcuterie board of cheeses and light appetizers.
14% alcohol by volume.
