There is a first note of raisins, then comes a cherry note and shortly after a mineral touch like gun powder or crushed rocks. This is very inviting and quite classic in style. The palate is wonderful. There is a strong acid backbone which gives this wine precision and drive, a nice raisin and cherry note all along, almost sweet but not unpleasant given the acid drive it plays against. A monster of a mid palate powers a very long finish. There is a slight tannic layer caressing that very long finish with a nice sand-like touch. The finish is all raisins, cherry that goes on for ever and with a slight bitterness that pops up in the end while the finish expands. This is the best ripasso I have ever had — 3 years ago

After pulling a stunning bottle of 1985 Faustino I Gran Reserva last night I was anxious that I might be pressing my luck with Joseph Drouhin’s 1992 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru. There was no need to be... I hit the 25 year red burgundy jackpot. Wow.

Exotically perfumed with a smoldering character that features a smoky and savory mix of lavender, earl grey, clove, grapefruit peel, cedar, and sappy red fruit. Everything translates to the palate with surprising focus that’s driven by lifting acidity and loads of savory undertones that blend an intoxicating mixture of piney herbs, earthy tobacco, and lively limestone minerality. My first en Rama sherry. It was very unique. It had that unfiltered mouth feel to it, sweet, nutty, and it grew on me over the month I kept the bottle refrigerated. Excellent!
