By the end of night one the cerebral roller coaster ride left me bewildered. Despite being guilty of infanticide, the wine was not necessarily closed for business. Rather, it was like tasting four or five different wines over a few hours. A darker than usual kirsch provides a canvas for the swirling plethora of flowers, herbs, meat, and earth, with a distinctly saline minerality (which might be the only constant here). By night two it reached its destination of charmingly pleasurable and no longer required as much thought, thankfully. — 7 years ago
Buttery light for a Chardonnay but perfect for a happy hour in the summer!!! — 8 years ago
Elegant as always, Csaba wines are incredible, wonderful fruit forward Pinot Noir, hints of cheery and raspberry, mushroom , forest floor, smokey on the nose, palate on the attack blank cheery, raspberry, and spice leading to moderate tannins, with a long supple finish. — 8 years ago
A burly, intense wine, better on the second day, developing some notes of canned lychee or peach in syrup to go with the heavy Diesel/petrol notes dominating both nose and palate. Finish sort of drops right off, leaving a plastic/curiously blank note. Interesting but not perfect. — 8 years ago

My favorite Merlot ever — 9 years ago
If you'd a taste of true Saint Emilion style and class, this is your ticket to ride. From one of the more recent great #Bordeaux vintages, this bottle of Chateau Franc Mayne over delivers at the unassuming price of $45, you simply cannot get this quality from California in that same price range, a brilliant canvas of taunt tannins, painted w/ blackberries, dry earth, and ripe dark plums, and slightly dry taste of the skin. Decant an hour B4, it evolves w/ air. The finish is long and lasting. Purchased wine. — 10 years ago
Blank berry, plum, cocoa, tobacco. MY perfect comfort wine. — 10 years ago

2012 red blend of Merlot, Cab and Cab Franc. Delicious & mature for only 6 years old. I love how they use an “open canvas” to create something spectacular. — 6 years ago
Hyatt's house cab. Loved it. — 7 years ago
Oh heck. Dang you garagiste. I've realized it is generally better to order 2 at a time but...this lovely Baden rosé(?!$) is crazy...kerosene plus roses and cherries and maybe mandarins and/or flippin' blackberries o my when I have a good blank slate for it I shall give another write-up. I've at least got one more! bottle — 7 years ago
Well used for Sangria. I know. . . Curse me now. — 8 years ago
I'm picky on pinots. I don't like acidic ones. More medium bodied, slightly fruity, overall dry. This was perfect. Since I bought it at Ralph's, for the cost, it's very good. Good red wine to have on warm day — 8 years ago
Showing signs of oxidization, but underneath fig and bruised-apple aromas, the nose has a rich and secondary nose of dark black raspberries, cedar, tobacco, dried cherries, and a tinge of cumin. In the mouth, it resembles a printed canvas of dark fruit, leather, cedar, tobacco, and savory tamari notes. There’s a nice texture to the midpalate flavors. It is gorgeously balanced, medium bodied, with lively acidity, still some tannic grip - though refined, and a satisfying length.
This is a wine of substance, at an extremely interesting and delicious point in its life, available for an absolutely ridiculous price. Thanks @Alder Yarrow for the recommendation! (The winemaker is Cathy Corison). — 9 years ago

A favorite from last summer, could never find it in Nashville. Still delicious and cheap. — 8 years ago
Not usually a fan of chardonnay, but this was left at my house after a party, and I'm sure glad! This is a soft, smooth wine that's very buttery and luscious without that oakiness that usually makes me cringe. — 8 years ago
Subtle, supple, black pepper, dried blank fruit
Dry, woodsy, showy tannin, dried black fruit, young, chewy — 9 years ago
Some smoky flint and poultry jumping out of the glass, the initial off-gas as this bloomed beautifully. The bottle only lasted about 45 minutes out on our table and in that time it settled nicely into a canvas of concentrated minerals white flowers perfect ripeness the right acidity. Lean and muscular, no fat, no human hands present here. Highly recommended. Iroulewhat?! Who would've known? Thanks kermit. Fried food for the win. — 9 years ago
Bubbles from Belgium! Light hint of green apples in this sparkling Chardonnay. Good apertif or a companion for something powerful - be it cheese, or might I suggest an awesome Belgium Chocolate. Perhaps even a sweet Liége-style waffle. The bottle says blanc de blancs - it's a good canvas in which to paint a good pairing vice being alone. — 10 years ago
Wow tasty Barolo, just as I recall it from Castel Grumello. This bottle direct from the winery from my visit directly after that tasting. Leather, blank cherries, pomegranate, candied orange rind....everything you want in your Barolo. Heat is manageable. — 10 years ago
