Continuing my theme of Australian cool climate Shiraz - this from the Canberra District. Considered by many to be as good as Clonakilla’s flagship Shiraz Viognier. Nose of pepper and spice with red fruits. On the palate cherry and spice with earthy mineral notes finishing with persistent fine Tannins. A very good cool climate Australian Shiraz in the mould of a Saint Joseph or Cote Rotie. NB Delectable this is Clonakilla Syrah. Not offered in your choices. — 6 years ago

Brief notes. Meaty aromas - very savoury. See previous notes re this being Bryan Martin’s private venture while still working at Clonakilla with their Shiraz Viognier being the benchmark in the country. Love this Northern Rhone style wine. I was expecting pepper but got more spice and charcuterie. — 3 years ago
What a stunning wine- bright medium lemon, crisp acidity and a glorious nose of apple, lemon, flint, smoke and just a hint of herbs. Beautiful balance and a long finish - this is a marvelously elegant triumph of wine making. Fabulous with food or on its own. Dazzling — 6 years ago
Dusty woody notes with fine tannins long moth feel. Heavier style neb @ 14.5%. Dark fruits and floral notes — 6 years ago
Very smooth! Enjoyed on December 24, 2018 — 7 years ago
Subtle lime & stoney fruit, a strong mid palate & some complexity (& from what I read the potential for aging) 10.5% alcohol, a lovely slight effervescence completely blows away my negative biases @ Australian wines. I though at firstThat 20$ was a tad pricey-& thats 20$ on sale, but after i finished the bottle, its a bargain. — 7 years ago
Oak, lime like herb in aroma. Rich, citrus, white flowers. Citrus, comfortable acidity. Each factor in the taste is showing the feature clearly. From Hunter valley which is an initial place for wine in Australia. Vat 47 Hunter Chardonnay Tyrrell’s 2018 @7546, Toscany JH, 231028-231111 — 2 years ago
Lovely wine! 11 years young. All the nuance of Aussie Shiraz that you could ask for. — 3 years ago

Very surprised when I opened the wine list. My inner geek took over when I saw it was the same wine I consumed last week but a different vintage. A much less open and complex nose than the’11.
In the mouth this wine demonstrated greater freshness than the ‘11. Grapefruit like acidity put the fruit flavors at the forefront. Once again I was a little disappointed with the finish but I think in this case the wine truly needs time to unwind. — 6 years ago
Brimming with white and black pepper, black fruits and subtle oak. In a good drinking window now. — 7 years ago
No oak. What the fuck?! Waxy, oaky (if possible), almost nutty. Sublime. — 8 years ago
Outstanding mid aged Hunter Semillon. Extremes fresh, crisp and very, very good. Great life. - Phil Laffer — 8 years ago

Opaque black dark red colour with a bright red to dark hue. Smoky dark plum and liquorice scents and peppered clove scents Rich plum and liquorice fruits carry good weight and it has a plush feel across the palate. Scorched earth, dried meats, Very polished tannins yet structurally sturdy and firm. The long finish has black pepper characters. — 7 months ago
