Smooth, enjoyable Napa Cab from Heidi Barrett. Lots of blackberry fruit power and a peppery finish. Nice, but I don't really think this wine was showing its all tonight given the average 95 ratings here (and CT). This one just never seemed like it unwound. — 8 years ago

Heidi Barrett at her best! — 10 years ago

I was impressed with Murasaki (Purple - in Japanese). Kenzo Estate makes Ai and Rindo but I prefer Murasaki. Heidi Barrett is the winemaker for Kenzo Estate (known as First Lady of wine and Time magazine called her The Wine Diva of Napa Valley). If you have not visited Kenzo Estate, I recommend to include this Vineyard on your list of wine tasting in Napa Valley. The most beautiful estate of all the vineyards I visited. — 10 years ago
Heidi Barrett killed her 2009 release which was the 5th release overall for this wine. This vintage is 46% Merlot, 21% Syrah, 15% PV, 14% Cab, 4% Can Franc. I'm usually not a fan of heavy Merlot in a blend, but this wine is silky smooth in the mouth with wonderful rich fruit. The 2009 is my favorite VP so far. — 9 years ago

We met Tony Arcudi at Fantesca another wine that he and Heidi Barrett make/consult. Actually, Heidi was there and it was the first time I’ve bumped into her.
The nose reveals; beautiful perfume blue & purple fruits, blackberries, blueberries, boysenberries, plum, creamy black raspberries, black licorice, soft soils & clay, limestone, violets, blue florals, black pepper, saddle-wood, leather, graphite, light dark spice, and fresh lavender & withering dark perfume florals.
The full body is rich, lush & gorgeous. The structure, tension, length and balance & are in harmony. The wine is seamless. Beautiful perfume blue & purple fruits, blackberries, blueberries, boysenberries, plum, creamy black raspberries, black licorice, soft soils & clay, limestone, dry crushed rocks, violets, blue florals, black light pepper, saddle-wood, leather, graphite, light dark spice, and fresh lavender & withering dark perfume florals. The round acidity is like a waterfall. The ripe, rich, well balanced finish is beautiful and lasts a couple minutes. Tony was a rising star and now has certainly arrived.

Wow an amazing find at the Woodlands. Outside of Houston Texas. Crush is a wine bar that knows and is a big fan of one of my favorite wine makers Heidi Barrett. This was the best selection tonight of Dominus 2012, Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon 2015, and Silver Oak 2007 Library release... all exceptional full bodied wines. If ever an opportunity to procure a bottle of the ever so silky smooth fruit forward Au Sommet please go for it. Incredibly complex blend of subtle flavor. This is a siping wine that needs to be appreciated with the most special people in your world. Obviously this is well paired with duck prepared as the French would suggest. My highest Regards to Heidi for conceiving this wine. — 8 years ago

"Coup du Foudre", when lightening strikes, is extremely accurate as a name for this wine. This one was a present to myself, for I have finally finished all my TWP exams for Total Wine! Which means, A.) I'm a Total Wine Professional now, and B.) The beginning of my sommelier journey!
Okay. Now to this monster of a wine! Originally a Heidi Barrett project, and owned by Danielle Price and John Schwartz, the owner of Amuse Bouche winery. This 2009 is slightly different from the current blend, consisting mostly of Cabernet Sauvignon, with a proportion of Syrah, and then Petit Verdot. Upon entry into the glass, this wine is one of the most concentrated, dense, blackened purple color in the glass I've ever seen. Extreme concentration, and deep stain of the legs. The nose was jetting out of the bowl exhibiting notes of green pepper, cocoa powder, stewed blackberries and blueberries, baking spices, Spanish cedar, and olive. The pallet was teeth staining and very full, showing a full spectrum of layers constantly changing; ripe blueberries, plum, red currant, leather, anise, and an everlasting finish. This guy needs a big decant, in the ball park of several hours. Drink now through 2025.
Bisous!

Excellent Heidi Barrett example. This still displays ripe, bold tannins. Stunning fruit profile with bright acidity. Awesome! — 7 years ago
