Barba Yiannis

Oro En Paz

Del Barba Vineyard Carignan

Decided to go to Ruth's Chris this evening for SF Restaurant Week and had this wine off their list. It was a nice surprise given I had never heard of it but how can you say no to Carignan! — 8 years ago

Del Barba Vineyard Zinfandel

I've had too many wimpy Zins lately. This one is not. More like a Beefcake. I'll take it. — 9 years ago

Bonny Doon Vineyard

Old Telegram Mourvedre 2014

The grapes - Randall Grahm likes to call the Mourvedre fruit Mataro - hail from Contract Costa County’s Del Barba Vineyard, 56 acres of vines at an average age of 73 years.
The extremely dark wine smells of black pepper, burnt cherries, licorice, meat and smoke. It's a beautiful nose. Savory squared. Flavors of dark fruit power over the earth and coffee and mint .

Barba

Vignafranca Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Montepulciano 2006

Enjoyed this with mussels marinara (going against the grain on this one!). Very dark purple with cherry, balsamic and even a note of coffee. — 10 years ago

Umberto Fiore

Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2012

A nice Barba, not too dry, not too much of anything, but it goes down nice. A barbaresco that doesn't require a huge mental commitment. — 9 years ago

Boutari

Santorini Assyrtiko 1989

This is the first vintage of Kallisti oak fermented & barrelled, by Yianni Boutari & Yanni Voyatzi (currently the head Oenologist of Boutari). Slightly oxidative complex nose, with honey, salinity, roasted nuts, touch of waxy nose, with a medium body fascinating & delish... and with a vibrant acidity. Boutaris at least in Naoussa & Santorini has crafted some jewels, that are still alive & kicking even after 20-30 years.
The last one I've tasted with Yiannis Voyatzis 2 years ago at two4eight after decanting it 1 hour after Yannis advice. THANK YOU YIANNI & YANNI!
