Lemon oil on a swab, smoky flint, underripe melon, squash blossom, corn husk bordering on jalapeño muffin, hay bale, eggshell, pie crust and white mushrooms are the primary scents. Lighter mouthfeel, with an unexpected creaminess turns olive oil with lemon oil, caperberry, and rag paper. Austerity minimized by a day of age. #moutard #chablis #chablisfordays #blancshavemorefun #blanc #chablisian #hashtag #vivelafrance — 7 years ago
We both love. Had in Cape May at Tishas. — 7 years ago
Intense, cool-climate, lean Pinot. Needs food to soften the austerity. Superb. — 7 years ago
Well balanced, soft tannins. Deep color. Enjoyed it! — 8 years ago
Like being bitten by a stranger / Dark, sharp, unexpected / — 8 years ago
Restrained, austere nose, faint leaf litter. Cherry, red currants and more than anything wet stone and slate. The coolness of the palette is almost Burgundy like. A crystalline ruby burr on the finish with a return of stone austerity and some tannic pull. — 9 years ago
A chalky austerity eventually gives way to red fruits, tobacco, and earth. Demands food. — 9 years ago
100% Greco Bianco. Tire rubber charcoal, and smoke and crushed ginkgo berry aromas. Grease Monkey special. Medium mouthfeel becomes lighter and finishes with a good austerity (not the bad kind). Starfruit and underripe, not-sweet-at-all peach finish. Stony and gypsum-esque. — 9 years ago
Vintage 2010 - there are multiple reasons why I love #bourgueil let me explain. When I just discovered wine as a real passion - at the age of 18 - I adored the raspberry smell no other wine offered so generous. I like the name: Bourgueil is by far the most beautiful AOC name. My wife and I fell in love with the great dishes of Madame Debacker and the #Loire region on our honeymoon. This #cabernetfranc is deep black in the glass. It has character. Even at this age the wine shows a bit harshness, and an austerity that is found in Bordeaux often. But the raspberry and cherry smell reminds me of Cru de Beaujolais. It has also flint and mineral expression in smell, hints of leather, tobacco, clove. On the tongue it has a velvety structure. Bourgueil can be complex and frivolous at the same time. / Partnered it with Bavette from bbq and cauliflower mousse. — 6 years ago

Classic reductive funkyness. This is a seriously ageworthy bottle. 7 years have done nothing to this wine and it will easily age for decades. Super tight, concentrate, packed with power and austerity. Gun flint, hazelnuts, lemon peel, chamomile, smokeness (bon fire) and a strong sense of minerality. — 7 years ago
The was a show stopper wine. Allspice mingles with earthy mineral tones with bright red cherry, cranberry and red current fruit. The palate is rich but restrained with noble austerity to the sour and red cherry, pomegranate fruit. Supple, bright tannins but with a real sense of grip. Long and bright on the finish. Close to its peak but looks to have lots of life. — 7 years ago
One of my absolute favorite Washington producers. Dedicated to austerity and subtlety. The harsher skin notes come through to balance out a delicate and beautiful white fruit statement. To call it a guzzler is to do it a disservice. Serious wine. — 7 years ago
2014 - Love the austerity & minerality , saline. Crushed chalky stones with a hint of lemon. Mouthwatering yet waxy. — 8 years ago
Initially hot and herbal. But evolves quickly to soften and elevate fruit while keeping enough austerity to work with the Indian food challenge! — 9 years ago
Brilliant old school Rioja without the austerity of many Gran Reserva wines. — 11 years ago
Over the course of a few hours, this wine has transformed from a pillar of austerity to a thing of beauty. A riper expression of Sagrantino, the delicacy of flavors - dried rose petal and lavender - prove a fascinating juxtaposition to the firm backbone of tannin that grows chalkier and more brittle with time in the glass. Kirsch, graphite, and rosemary. — 6 years ago
There’s a note of funk on the nose that never really dissipates, even with a few hours of air. Otherwise, I would rate this even higher, as there’s terrific fruit here, the acidity is present but in a supporting role, and there’s none of the austerity seen in some previous vintages. — 6 years ago
Stunner for 2001! Elegant and effusive out of the gate with freshness abound. Hints of mushroomed austerity and salinity that is supremely lifting. Such a treat!! — 7 years ago
This shining star was not eclipsed today! Smoky and yeasty with a green leather note, lemon, quince, almonds, star fruit and the memory of chive. A clean, dry ice, nitrogen aroma lingers. Brioche that transmogrifies to scone, with berry esters and edible orchid. Yeast will yield ripe citrus of clementine pith and lemon essence when agitated, but a cleanness abounds and gives this the refined austerity of a reflected holy light. Beautiful!! Perfection during the eclipse! Nero at ground zero! #eclipse #eclipsewine #metodoclassico #giorgi #oltrepopavese #bubbles #sparklingwine #blancdenoir #pinotnero — 7 years ago
Real tasty. Keeps the charm of PN without the sometimes oppressive austerity of extreme-climate red. — 8 years ago
Really nice, proper Chablis. Walks the line between austerity and fruitiness very deftly. — 8 years ago
Beautiful Burgundy nose. A bit young but showing austerity and a firm rustic backbone. — 9 years ago
All Boxwood collection -- tremendous. Such discipline, austerity, class. Thank you!!!
( And for those who like the dry and tighter reds of Piemonte and Valtellina will like them a lot, I think!) — 10 years ago
