Complex and complete. Youthful colrr that shows some age in the edge, but center is still purple. Nose is intensely cassis, animal/meaty (not dirty), minty, salted plum. This has a lot of life left, if anyone has bottles left. 😅 — 4 years ago

From Basilicata, east of Naples, comes this ref Aglianico with a scent of chocolate and black fruits. The light but persistent, balanced palate has an almost sweet cherry flavour, is slightly tannic, with some nice spice and vanilla notes. Lidl €9.99 bargain. — 7 years ago

Took 2 hrs to open up, but excellent when it did. Dried roses and asphalt, complex on the palate with fine layers of red and black cherry, tobacco leaf. Long as all get out. Years to go. 1988 was the firstbrelease of Montes Alpha wine when Montes became one of the first premium wineries in Chile. Today Aurelio Montes continues leading the winemaking effort. A blend of 90% Syrah, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon & 3% Viognier. Very dark red with full berry fruit nose adding mineral and spice notes. On the palate blueberry and cherry flavors with cacao and vanilla oak accompanying soft tannins. Lingering finish ending with toasty spice. Nice value. — 7 years ago
