Savory syrah, grippy, peppercorn, an atypical vintage but this vinter did the wine justice. — 7 years ago
A bit atypical for pinot noir (although some -gris & -blanc in blend). Darker red fruits, a bit of smoky flinty aromas, herbs, licorice. Lots of spice for a pinot! — 8 years ago
Full body, crazy atypical vintage, shockingly delish! — 9 years ago
Noticeably raveneau but broad, fleshy and quite exotic. All the honeyed and floral notes you're used to from valmur but it lacks a bit of the minerality and cut you'd expect from one this young. Admirable given the vintage and a delicious, if atypical, wine. — 10 years ago
This was the Vieilles Vignes - still hanging in there - solid burgundy although atypical of many from Gevrey, lot more fruit and no barnyard — 11 years ago
Body medium +, Brett, menthol, pepper, strawberry, cherry, earthy, oak. A bit "hot". Bottle is atypical. You can't see content. Great with beef deli. Grown at high altitude. 13.5deg. A very pleasant surprise! Don't buy a bottle by its label. — 11 years ago
Surprisingly intense fruit acid Bright blackberry fruit and smooth balanced tannins making for an atypical Napa Cab experience. — 12 years ago
Bright deep cherry and forest tree nose with buttered popcorn. Multilayers of buttered candied fruits rioting under a blanket of pine needles. Rises and dips across the palate experience of tis roller coaster Pinot. Atypical and Absolutely pleasurable. — 7 years ago
Color : Red
Wine estate : Zinfandelic
Designation : Zinfandel
Name : Sierra foothills Zinfandel
Country : USA
Vivino : 4.5/5
Note : The famous Zinfandel with its multicolored label and atypical like this wine. A red robe, a nose of strawberry and flowers. A very greedy taste, intense and delicious. Red fruit flavors refreshing and unctuous. To drink without moderation! — 8 years ago
Unfiltered, and it lets you know! Atypical for merlot / Cabernet. Funky good! — 8 years ago
Somewhat atypical for Sancerre with its ripe and relative opulence. Classy and balanced, delicious as hell. Riper citrus moving into stone fruit, sweet herbs, very mineral. I think vine age and neutral oak help bring out the textural richness here. Almost more inline with Bordeaux blanc in terms if style but still grounded in Sancerre wth the firm acid and mineral backbone. — 9 years ago
Very full bodied atypical blend of varietals. Smooth and loaded with tannins. Give this some time to breath or cellar it for another 8-10. — 10 years ago
Slightly oxidized, generous taste of autumn apple. Late harvested and completely atypical but absolutely wonderful. Served with baked, pickled and dried onion, roasted almond potato creme, shallots, onion broth and bone marrow. — 10 years ago
Super delicious. Unusual in its red fruit, cranberry, pomegranate and bacon fat emerge on the nose with black pepper and olives. The palate has a slight salinity and a vinegar note that compliments the berries and meat on the palate. Nice purple flowers intertwined in it all. Fantastic and drinking perfectly NOW. Cedary lengthy finish. Great Northern Rhone just slightly atypical. — 11 years ago
A winner, especially at this price point and from an atypical source for reds. Currants, black licorice, and spice notes. — 12 years ago
I have never had such a delicious dry wine! Made in the Vouvray region of France, it is notable for being an atypical wine of the region. It was made because the the season was too cold. It is a dry wine, incredibly smooth, and a full, round taste in the mouth. Goes well with everything, in my opinion! — 13 years ago
Medium gold color. Heavy in the glass. Leesy nose with notes of lemon, apricot, tan spice and sea shells. With air this really blossomed. Became exotic and later was atypical for a Chablis. Yet it always had great fruit and powerful acidity. (Bday dinner 2/13) — 7 years ago
Most unusual Priorat ever! Super intense & persistent menthol/spearmint notes dominated nose. Otherwise, impressive - very inky, some mineral & dark fruit, huge mid-palate but tannins were very well integrated, long rich finish softened over time. Big Guns here, touch too hot. I wonder how this will evolve from its current atypical expression? — 8 years ago
Atypical for the 2012 vintage. This is an acid and structure-driven Pinot that seems a bit out of balance. Good flavors, but a bit on the harsh side considering the time since vintage and that it got a good breather after opening. Needs more time, but not sure it will ever be in balance. — 8 years ago
Yes, that is a full size wine bottle. The glasses were insane: Italian hand-blown 1950s lead crystal with >2 litre capacity. Had I not known their history I would have thought they were novelty glasses; you can fit most of your face in them...
The wine was good - very forward and atypical of Syrah. Dense purple; almost Beaujolais-like meaty, richly fruity nose full of plumbs and ripe blueberry compote; furnished with healthy acidity but relatively low on tannin. Not very long and won't get any better but a very pleasant early-drinking wine! — 10 years ago
Great stuff. Flavor profile consistent with previous bottle, has an exotic hint of tropical fruit, like banana-mango-papaya. Atypical but interesting — 11 years ago
Hints of tobacco, dark fruit, wet soil soon after pulling the cork with an atypical juicy and meaty mouthful; then it goes to sleep. Needs time — 11 years ago
So delicious. A nice, deeply complex Pinot noir. It's outstanding on its own and pairs well with food, but with food much stronger than you'd usually pair with this grape given its atypical depth. — 11 years ago
Atypical bourdeaux with soft tannin and nice fruit. — 12 years ago
Bob McDonald

Previous notes apply. Drank a bottle on 21 September 2019. An atypical Langi. Still one of the best Shirazes in Australia but foregoing it’s white pepper notes in this warmer year hence atypical. — 6 years ago
