The notes below are all from the Grand Fete de Saint-Jean in Faugeres (well, this year it was in Laurens, which was a bit of a shame as Faugères itself is a stunning place with a great atmosphere). My general impression was that this appellation is going from strength to strength - it will be interesting to see where it will be in 10 years’ time. The wines were all generally of a very high level (the best from the producers that attended are listed below); from the most traditional bottlings to the more modern efforts (though even the most modern is by no means an ‘international’ wine). I’ve been coming here for more than a decade and the wines were very good back then as well. However, now there is clearly more of a sense of pride in the terroir and finely tuned craftsmanship across the board. There are a few older producers that have always made stunning wines but joining their ranks recently are a bunch of young winemakers who have discovered the untapped potential of the region. Definitely an AOP to watch out for!
Slightly disappointed that they didn’t bring out the current vintage of Fossibus but can understand why, as the oak tends to dominate for a few years. This is in a better place right now; the oak is more integrated and, although I preferred the GR (below) for current drinking, this will probably be in a better place in 10-12 years’ time. — 7 years ago
How do you rate a unicorn? Amazing grounds, amazing food, amazing atmosphere, amazing people... a timeless wine that I was allowed to taste in the comfort of friends. 10+ thanks — 7 years ago
Quick weekend getaway for the TCU vs Arkansas football game! Always a treat to come up to Fayetteville in the Ozark mountains! I'm a Razorback by marriage, even though I grew up near TCU. A wonderful and beautiful campus and amazing football atmosphere.
Doe's Eat Place is a staple in Fayetteville. Picnic table tops, right off Dixon strip, fat steaks, and an actually decent wine list that is served in red plastic cups unless you buy by the bottle 😂. I've been pleasantly surprised with Stag's Leap over the last few years in regards to their quality...seems to be stepping up a bit/getting back to their roots. This Artemis won't hold forever, but it has a super aromatic nose of blue and black fruits, dates and french bread. Very plush on the palate, and a lengthy finish of licorice, touch of menthol and lots of blueberries and vanilla. Crowd pleaser. — 8 years ago
Vaucluse is Michael White's Upper East Side French restaurant with a slight American twist. And so it is the wine list. Large sections of French wine are bookended by their US equivalents. Two pages of Burgundy are followed by a handful of Sonoma and Oregon Pinots. We stayed Old School and went for a Bordeaux. Red fruit, tar, leather, somewhat advanced beyond its decade of life. A tasty mid weight wine that was lovely with the rack of lamb and establishment atmosphere. — 8 years ago
Oxidative nose gives way to a wine of elegance and finesse with some tannins of the finish . Tasted at Atmosphere in Bourget Du Lac France . — 7 years ago
Colour of Rich Yellow Gold. I served this wine in Red Burgundy Glasses. Oxidative Sherry like notes from the solera system. Also the first Champagne I have ever decanted. Mature developed flavours. Notes of hazelnut and mouldy orange. An amazing wine - not really Champagne as we know it. 100% Avize Chardonnay. Disgorged 4th July 2008 so plenty of bottle development. Following the advice of Roscoe Halligan of Prince Wine Store (after he had been advised by Selosse himself) regarding Decanting and appropriate stemware, and required age I can now say I “get” Selosse Substance, appreciate it and will buy in the future. He bottles at the minimum atmosphere required by law. Unique can be an overused word with Wine but I am confident in saying this is truly unique. Fitting for my better half’s birthday! — 7 years ago
Hard to go wrong and to enjoy this with this many friends bumped up the rating. Incredibly generous by @Jason Cutrer to bring a bottle of this and the 12. Who does that?!?! Super special. I’m putting this above the 12 and the 23 we had later in the night. Atmosphere had a lot to do with it. And to the attempted photo bomber Sherry - #fail!!!! — 8 years ago
Really great...but the atmosphere was also a part of it!

Very light and tasty. It helps that atmosphere is amazing at Le Fou Frog. — 8 years ago
A elegant wine in an elegant atmosphere at the shard's rooftop in London ☺️ — 8 years ago
Love love love. Big body. Eating Indian food at Kirma in Houston with a great buddy Nick Garcia. It’s a perfect blend atmosphere and personality, which suits this wine perfectly. — 6 years ago
At Nayara welcome event. Maybe it was the atmosphere... but I loved it! — 6 years ago
2011 is still bangin away! Funky yet green and laced with an atmosphere of honeycomb/floral beauty. — 7 years ago
In a company conference, crowded of customers and drinking this... great atmosphere! — 8 years ago
Maybe it is the atmosphere and the outdoor beautiful restaurant here in Aruba, but this rosé' is actually impressive with a nose of strawberries and a soft clean well balanced palate of watermelon and maybe hints of citrus? Actually very impressive and enjoyable!! — 8 years ago

Always solid! Was a very hot night so probably not the best atmosphere for a big red wine. — 6 years ago
