100% Riesling
Strong amble gold. Nectar like color. Sumptuous.
Apricot, nectarine, white peach. Slightly petrol bouquet.
Med plus plus acidity, some sugar residual (just below the semi dry level), medium body. Slightly oxidized but in a good way, adding complexity to the mouthfeel. Petrol, slightly saline. Expressive fruits characteristic of Mosel's steep slate slope. Pineapple, ripe mango, apricot, peach.
Amazing bottle of 23 year old Mosel riesling. Ideally this could be kept 10-15 years more before it reaches its apogee. Quite a handsome wine as it is today though. 92+. — 8 years ago
The appearance is youthful with light early summer straw color. On the nose, it's such a beauty - full of tropical floral scents reminding me of blossomed jasmine, satinwood flower, Chinese box and moon jasmine flowers. The palate is expressive, and powerful. I should also say that the wine has been decanted for a very long time before we tasted (most likely a week, yet it hadn't lost any of its freshness - a sign of great wine). The fruit profile is ripe and opulent but with enough acidity to prevent the wine from becoming one-dimensional. Keep 5 more years to reach its primary apogee and a decade if you enjoy Riesling's tertiary goodness. 92+ — 9 years ago
Dense and stony, at its apogee and strutting its stuff. Dark black and red berry completely resolved but powerful, concentrated. Some residual tension holding it together beautifully. Long finish of light spice and a hint of nuttiness. Outstanding! Kudos to @Flatiron Wines in SF. — 9 years ago
From the apogee of my Parker score based collecting years. Ugh. Still heavy and a little over extracted, but not altogether bad and showing better with some air. Just lacks the complexity and aromatics that make some of these wines great - and albeit, I have not had a great CdP since 99 - I beg u who read this to show me one. Anyway. Color still inky. Nose still fruity (but not raisiny). I think the better part of this wines life in the rear view mirror. Drink up. — 9 years ago
The best mature Sociando I've had. A bit savage on the nose upon opening, which hinted at Brett, but subsided into one of the most ravishing noses in a long while. Fruit, leather, spice, an evolved herbal note - all interlace into great complexity. Still powerful on the palate, solidly built, the tannins still massive but refined and balanced by fruit and extract. This has now reached its apogee, but will stay there for quite a while. — 10 years ago
Delicious Zin at its apogee. Nose has brambly, zingy blackberry fruit, with loamy earth and milk chocolate notes. Lively, with excellent acidity. Very pure red and black berry fruit in the mouth. Crisp, pure finish. The best of the 4 bottles of this I had, all of which I apparently drank too early! — 10 years ago

18months in new medium smoked French oak barrels, amazing!!! — 12 years ago
If you questioned whether a rose can be lumped in with cougar juice, question no longer. Orin Swift’s absolute apogee of a rosé satisfies like no other. Plenty of malolactic roundness settles firmly in the middle of fresh deliciousness. A drained glass speaks of kettle corn on warm dry slate. — 8 years ago
Cork was pushing up and this needed to be opened. Gorgeous nose. So many rocks. Petrol, lemon, lime zest, mineral and even a hint of rainer cherries. Really aromatic and stunning. Palate is super mineral and dense and opulent (this is 06) with nice texture and freshness. Good acids and nice citrus fruits on the long finish. Really Long. Excellent and at its apogee. — 8 years ago
2008 Bolghieri Superiore Greppicaia. At its apogee. Earthly. Black cherry. Fruit and acidity in perfect harmony. Paired with blackened filet amazing combination. So smooth. Excellent choice! — 9 years ago
This was absolutely delicious, having an elegantly rich freshness with good depth of flavour. The ideal world would have us sipping this in three or four years time when I confidently predict that it will reach it's apogee. Pricey: €52,00 ht — 9 years ago
A wine at its apogee, a liquid hommage to the blueberry at its core on the nose and across the palate. Perfectly integrated wood that comes through as sweet toasty vanilla and smoke essence. Screams Barossa, with distinctive secondary elements peeking out of sweet cherry, tobacco, spice, red flowers and plums. Outstanding, 30 min decant does it all. — 9 years ago
This needs time to hit its apogee but by all means open one now, particularly if you're looking for the perfect pairing for a fatty bone in ribeye. — 9 years ago
Apogee Bordeaux, just wow. Headed down the other side of that hill though, drink em if you've got em — 10 years ago
An outstanding wine, very impressive for a new vineyard. I like the Ferguson better than the Apogee or Perigee. — 11 years ago
Dinner "Venison" June 2014 Home / a son apogee — 11 years ago
Wonderful stuff. Real gnarly blue fruit on the nose. Lovely balance and dark, bramble salinity. On the palate great precision and clarity. Some intense, almost plummy sour fruit but incredible depth aligned with brightness and structure. Really spectacular and in a great place now. This is DRC in apogee... fascinating, challenging and delicious. — 8 years ago

Past it's apogee the reviews say! Nahhh @ £36 this last bottle of 07 🦆horn is still quacking well 🐥 now $120!

👃 Spiced sweet squished dark plums over dirty smokey gravel w/ red cherry, cocoa dust & crushed vanilla pods - as fresh as when I bought it 😎

Sometimes you just need to pull a good bottle after a long day. Drinking nicely, however I feel this has passed its apogee, and is slowly beginning a decline. Does not have the structure and stuffing the Rutherford or Oakville bottlings have to go the distance. That said, this is smooth as silk, elegant and complex, with all the layers you'd expect. Drink now! — 10 years ago

Mid gold, super ripe peaches, waxy, dry, good acidity, this mature wine shows a vibrant, honeyed minerality and is its apogee now.

Licorice dominates over blackberry and black cherry, coffee grounds and black earth. Iron from beef blood. Melka is a frigging genius. This will get way better, far from its apogee (best guess, 5+ yrs). So smooth, but so many facets to this. — 8 years ago
