On the nose, dark sour cherries, dates, burnt figs, grilled meats, burnt ambers, liquid smoke & dark dry florals. The core color is dark with garnet edges. The palate is; slightly sour but mostly sweet dark cherries, stewed plum, cooked strawberries, rhubarb, dates, figs, tomatoes, smoke, grilled meats, brewed coffee, light tarry notes, dry crushed rock powder, volcanic minerals, dark rich earth, dusty tannins, dry dark florals, soft chewy leather, nice round acidity with a decent, soft, elegant finish...50-50 fruit & earth. This is the largest co-op producer in Europe with 50 members. They collectively have 250 acres; which is about 1/6 of the total under vine. Photos of; the town of Barbaresco (their tasting room near the tower), Produttori cellar and their tasting bar. No appointment necessary. Close to Gaja and the town has one of the best one star Michelin lunches as well as the best service we've experienced. Just right of Gaja. Good with our Veal Bolognese. — 9 years ago

No time to read all that, but I'll give you a thumbs up anyways

Thats tomorrow's bottle,Blind. Whole table guessed Cayuse. No surprise but close. This was really funky and yummy. Fun to drink. Better with food than as a sipper. I really liked it. Probably couldn't drink it all the time but a nice change of pace. Very intellectual flavor profile. — 10 years ago
Fruit still strong. Bright, minerals and complexity for fanatic. Yummy. Too bad no 2003 left to comp. — 11 years ago
Should I have waited? Yes? No? It was the last one of my 6 pack of this vintage. We drank one per year since '09. Happy anniversary to us! — 11 years ago
Chris's family's wine. I remember it as really good but had way too much that night to remember more. — 13 years ago
Delightful to drink. Rich, almost spicy, but in no way overbearing. Given to me by a friend, so I toasted her and her health and good fortune. — 8 years ago
Well. 47 years in and this wine is really unique. There were no evident tannins. In fact, one of us said this is more like a Pinot because it is so smooth. My general sense is that because we do not drink Cabernet of this age - ever- that we did not know what to expect. Truly the special. The rating number reflects the quality and unique nature of this exquisite experience. — 10 years ago
Cork disintegrated, but otherwise no concerns. Very restrained with more fruit showing as it took on air. Looking forward to seeing how the rest of the bottles age. — 10 years ago
My love for Krug knows no bounds. Bready, yeasty notes jump out of the glass towards you but quickly soften into those of honey butter. Ginger and spice notes. Lees driven but well integrated with medium high acid. This champagne is so complex that it's almost impossible to truly detect where one note of flavor ends and the other begins. — 11 years ago
New to wine but this seems to have an older full body taste. Great bottle. Smooth. No bite at all! — 11 years ago
Great with sushi! Clean and strong mineral flavors... Enjoy! — 11 years ago
Gave this a few more months since my first 2012, about the same. Go with the 13 if you can find it. But the 13 is a 💯 pointer so its double the price, so you get what you pay for.

@David T actually 5 months,Tasted this wine in Walla Walla and didn't want to wait when the bottles arrived at the house. As young as it is, the wine was delicious right up front. Looking forward to the next 5! — 9 years ago
Wow. This is nearvana. It may get better but I doubt it, start drinking now, no rush. Fruit, earth, graphite, cigar box. Everything you need it to be. — 10 years ago
Drinking beautifully right now, dark chocolate, mocha, and blackberries on the nose - terrific blend of 60% cab, 29% merlot, 8% Malbec and 3% Cabernet franc. Smooth and round on the pallet with shuttle tannins - opened up nicely over an hour of drinking - providing close to a :60 second finish. Last bottle consumed - wish I had more! — 10 years ago
I'm going to come clean, I'm not a huge Caymus fan. It's by no means a bad wine - far from it - but I've always felt they blend their Cab with too much Zin. I could be wrong on that account, but I don't think I am. Still, a nice brooding nose of dark red and blue fruit, with a touch of candied fruit and wet earth. — 11 years ago
A great bottle to celebrate with! — 11 years ago
Quite an amazing bottle of wine. Girlfriend is the Bordeaux fan and I was hesitant. Had a 1911 Lafite that was funky and cheesy. Looking forward to more fruit and we got it with this bottle. Absolutely beautiful red candied fruit with no more tannins and barely a hint of acid. Quite spectacular. — 13 years ago
