Belle Glos

Las Alturas Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015

Very nice Pinot. Similar to the Clark & Telegraph Pinot, perhaps a little less fruit forward. Glad I am having it on Christmas Eve - pairs very well with all kinds of foods. — 9 years ago

Ridge Vineyards

Monte Bello Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2006

Nice dark fruit with a hint of mint and tannins that add just the right touch. Maybe could use a few more years in the bottle but there are two more! I'll check back in a few years. But for now, I'm am totally happy. — 11 years ago

Domaine Jean-Louis Chave

Hermitage Syrah 1987

Chave does not suck and this vintage is no different. The wine was rich and powerful but after airating the wine for a few minutes the wine opened and revealed great depth and that wonderful purity that this region is known for. The granite soils certainly influence this effort and I for one am glad chave exists. — 10 years ago

Château Léoville Barton

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 1982

This bottle was beautiful and certainly fully developed, showing lots of cedary and animal character, with a dash of cloves and some dried cherries. A bit of harsh acid. I wonder a bit about storage conditions, but with ribeye, am I going to complain? — 10 years ago

R. López de Heredia

Viña Tondonia Reserva Rioja Tempranillo Blend 1974

6 ano that was bottled at 1974 or a bit earlier. My companion during El Clasico over the weekend. I am just not sure as to who was better -- the game or the wine. It was just incredible. — 11 years ago

Caymus Vineyards

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

I'm going to come clean, I'm not a huge Caymus fan. It's by no means a bad wine - far from it - but I've always felt they blend their Cab with too much Zin. I could be wrong on that account, but I don't think I am. Still, a nice brooding nose of dark red and blue fruit, with a touch of candied fruit and wet earth. — 11 years ago

Château Mouton Rothschild

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend

Who am I to criticize a bottle of Mouton Rothschild? Amazing, no doubt. But didn't feel balanced. Great funk on the nose. High acidity and overall mild. — 10 years ago

Château Lynch-Moussas

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2011

I am not in agreement with what has been posted on this label: good body, darker than usual left bank Bordeaux, perfect oak derived smokiness and very little tannin for a young bottle. One of the best I have had at an amazing price - paid for it about 30 euro at the Carrefur grocery store in Sallanches, France!

Château Rayas

Réservé Châteauneuf-du-Pape Grenache Blend 1995

At this stage of development a cross between the '90 and '89.
I am not qualified to judge what vintage it will eventually resemble but it does not matter this is great and will only be better with time.
