The 2008 Dom Pérignon is once again stunning. More than anything else, I am surprised by how well the 2008 drinks given all the tension and energy it holds. Then again, that is precisely what makes 2008 such a unique vintage – namely that the best wines are so chiseled and yet not at all austere. Lemon peel, almond, mint, smoke and crushed rocks are all finely sculpted, but it is the wine’s textural feel, drive and persistence that elevate it into the realm of the sublime. The 2008 will be even better with time in the cellar, but it is absolutely phenomenal even today, in the early going. Three recent bottles have all been nothing short of magnificent. Okay my friends. I have finally released my own wine! This rating is for Dr Todd Vineyards cabernet sauvignon from Herron Family Wines. I had to put Papillon in the pic to get this spot. Ive been working on this since 2014!!!!! It is finally ready. Of coarse it is opaque in color. The legs are thick and slow to fall. The bouquet is my favorite blackberry pie fresh out of the oven with a hint of black licorice. The initial palate is exploding with dark fruit: blackberry, black current, dark cherries. The mid palate is exactly what I hoped for, chocolate and spice with a splash of oak! The finish is very long with minimal tannins and moderate dryness. I am very proud if this wine. I want to thank my growers in NAPA. I blended two vines of 100% cabernet , one from Oakville and one from the Silverado trail area near lake Hennessey. We aged it three years in American Oak. I am so proud of my team!!!!! Thank you my Herron Family Wine Crew! This is an awesome cabernet sauvignon. Next is a pinot noir... stay tuned... — 7 years ago

Ya know those times when you find something in your wine collection you forgot you had? On the allotment list now, but not back for this 2008 (@Roman Sukley did I buy this from you or The Judge?). Strawberry, deep dried cherry, wood, tobacco. Smooth as silk at 15.1, and popped 2 hrs ahead of drinking. My sweetie usually just takes a sip of what I am drinking - last night she asked me to get her a glass, and kept asking me to pour her a little more. Yes. — 9 years ago

What a wine. Genius. Brilliant. But that’s 2019. Insane nose of honeysuckle, caramel nougat, spice, mineral, confectionary notes, apricot, peach skin and superb head spinning mineralIty. What a palate. Elegant, spicy, tons of apricot and peach skin, and so juicy and energetic. Pure and sappy. So nimble but also has energy and substance for days. Citrus, marmalade flavors develop after some minutes. Juicy and so clean. Unreal. So pure. Sappy and dense. Balanced and long. This has serious stuffing. What a wine. Perfect ripeness balanced with scintillating minerality and energy. Chewy. Wonderful. After some air one gets lost in the nose and aroma. Dizzying. The best honeyed aromas. Pitted fruits now and more incisive minerality. So long. A stunner. — 6 years ago
Smooth and elegant. Acidic w mineral and white pepper notes w just a touch of Brett. I imagine this is what Syrah tasted like 100 years ago. 😊🙏🍷 — 7 years ago
I think this one is drinking very well at this moment. However, I am sure that this crazy complex Mt Veeder fruit is capable of more. At first, this one seemed to have a backbone of sweet, blackberry and blueberry fruit with volcanic notes. Immediately after cork pop, you could have told me this was the Howell Mountain offering and I would have believed you. However, 3 hours later this one turned a little bit darker. Shale and gravel replaced the volcanic notes, and the blackberry doubled down. Ended with a fair amount of black pepper, resolving tannin. Very balanced. This one will definitely hold for a while. I think it is in a great spot, although I see it improving somewhat in the next 1 or 2 years. if you have a few of these as I do not, you might want to open up one now! — 7 years ago
Not as big as the ‘90 but a beautiful wine. The nose was very earthy when uncorked. Open after 40 minutes of decanting, cedar & spice emerged with cherry. This is a balanced, full wine that still has plenty of life. I am happy to have several more bottles! — 7 years ago
Nice structure, crisp with some spice notes, very good!! — 8 years ago
Raikas, hedelmäinen ja sitruksinen. Erittäin mainio viini kanalle ja seurusteluun. — 8 years ago
truly thunderous, not as fat as vintage would predict, it is a super bottle, wayyyyy better than the 09s tried recently. Drinking really well, there is clean fruit wrapped in acidity and minerality, no oyster shell or chalk, but very Chablis. Texture is rounding out, but there's still a nice bite and I am enjoying it very much. — 9 years ago
An experiment. Served with grilled marinated halibut. Worked pretty well. — 6 years ago
Our favorite Spring day is when we get plant the yard. Especially, during Covid-19 lockdown. Never more enjoyable.
Flowers by Sofia. Garden is me.
A great weather day and worthwhile doing a cheers with of one of our favorite N/V Rosé Champagne’s.
With the lockdown, I am running dangerously low on Rosé Champange. I might have to Soda Stream some Rosé wine soon.
All my many, many notes still apply.
Cheers all and Happy Easter if you celebrate it. 🍾🥂🍷 🐣 🐰 — 6 years ago

Super beautiful and elegant, feminine and delicate yet great concentration. I am not sad about opening this yet it could age. Let it air a bit like 20 min at least and you start getting that concentration of red fruit with the beauty of Italian acidity. Highly recommended and I am happy I opened this for a good event. — 7 years ago
Very beautiful...reminds me of a Barolo is the beginning....very complex and bold. But has this gentle landing. I am impressed. — 8 years ago
A little fruity like a dry gewurtz — 9 years ago
Cherries and nice acidity... Served it with Nona's homemade ravioli and was delicious! — 9 years ago

I am addicted to this wine. Such a treat even when young. Decent color for its age. All sorts of rich fruit - peaches apricot apple and great weight. I will try and be more patient with the 08 going forward for comparison. — 5 years ago
