Mahogany color with molasses, caramel, espresso, bittersweet chocolate and subtle baking spice aromas. On the palate it's full bodied, viscous, and very persistent with a supple mouth feel that's beautifully balanced with a penetrating acidity that keep it from being cloying and persistent with very good acidity that keeps it from being cloying and provides balance. It shows very sweet flavors of molasses, honey-dipped figs, dates, caramel, and baking spice nuanced citrus note with a kiss of oxidation that adds to its allure and complexity. Day five on the cruise and this night at Giovanni's the Italian restaurant aboard the Allure of the Seas. We decided to open up two South African beauties for this.
Deep mix of ruby and garnet red. Very earthy on the nose with savory and slightly stinky characteristics. A touch green as well. Heavy tannins (7/10) and medium plus to full bodied. Dark berries on the attack of the palate with some dark cocoa and cinnamon notes. Long finish with some cedar notes. Drink till 2028. — 8 years ago

Stinging in its pervasive allure... Believable fruit, romantic texture, ravishing roar of flavor, intent-- — 9 years ago
Night one was a touch too austere for non food drinking, but had some herbal and acid allure. Day 2 reveals another complete animal, with cumin, green herb and tart raspberry with autumnal field grass. Gritty rainy sidewalk oak and afternoon coastal ranges breeze. Like coming off dry land. Pencil lead, charcoal, and some warmth. — 10 years ago
Tres Beautiful nose 👃👃👃
Caramel apple-banana brûlée top notes, pear and spice underneath, still-pert lemon zest and peach custard, too. Palate delivers that Cali-leonine body -ie big! - but with enough brisk acidity to keep things more than decent. Long, with flavors that echo the nose and all around beautiful balance. Drinking super well at moment, near its peak and rewarding this bit of bottle age with plenty of secondary characteristics. PLUS:: #winebling (yes, there are some tartrate crystals, folks - all just adding to the allure - game on!) — 10 years ago
My first Rhone. It had a bold flavor. I liked it. — 11 years ago
Grabbed this from the wine list at 150 Central Park on the Allure of the Seas, great price at $80.00 ($48.00 with drinks package) a bottle, yes 750mL.
Given a three and a half hour decant but might have needed more. Deep purplish red. Insanely tight on the nose with a touch of baking spices, black cherries, petrol, tobacco and a touch earthy. Heavy tannins (7/10) and solid acidity. Medium plus to full bodied with notes of red cherries, black currants, herbs, gravel and cinnamon. Dry and long finish. Drink till 2025.
This is the Cabernet Sauvignon led bottling by Blackbird Vineyards, led with 81% and followed by 13% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc. Aged in 75% new French oak for 21 months. Only 40 barrels produced and release price is $135.00. — 8 years ago
I'm becoming quite fond of Tempranillos, and this wine has furthered the allure. Rich and complex flavors challenge the palate with this fine product of the Toro region. The finish is long and dry. I'll gladly accept another glass if put before me. — 8 years ago
Occhipinti Siccagno Nero d'Avola 2013
She came on dark turning rubyesque, a spin and first kiss, dripping red from my lip to my white linen cuff, not unlike the juicy explosion of a ripe blackberry, her color and allure dancing in the decanter, then leaning closer, more warmly spilling into my glass, she dips and turns, another spin, I breathe her in and her earthen essence laced lightly but luxuriously in red and black fruit lingers and lures me to drink, her acid does a balancing act with a purple plum preponderance her tannins squeeze holding the moment, we go deeper, darker until she dives disrobing as she rolls, slides, sideslips and seduces another dance, another turn, another twist - "and the band plays on..." For the love of the juice🍷🕶🌀
PS: kale salad @ Il Palio, in Chapel Hill is brilliant! Don't miss that place when there, or, make it a destination - digging their grilled octopus, too🍷🕶🌀 — 9 years ago
The 1955. Sixty years ago a lot of things were different in the golden state. "Burgundy" was "a blend of Gamay and other fine grapes". This half bottle made it, and still had allure and pleasure if only on a thin, frail frame. It was much improved from hours of decanter time. — 10 years ago
The top broke off easily but this pink moscato was good! — 11 years ago

Night six on the Allure of the Seas and wine number seven from the wine crate. This night we are at Samba Grill Brazilian Steakhouse.
Deep ruby red. Attack on the nose was soft with notes of dark spices, anise and iron. Seems to need a little bit of time but the 2011 characteristics keep poking through with notes of twigs, herbal and greenery. With a bit more time came some cinnamon and dark red berries. Medium tannins (6/10) with solid acidity. Seems younger than the nose when you get to the palate with black currants, cassis, bramble red berries and a touch of heat. Medium to medium plus bodied with a little bit of earthiness in the medium plus to full finish. Drink till 2026. — 8 years ago
