Cherry, blueberry, violet, and licorice on the nose. Black cherry, earthiness, and a mild spice note. Nice body, smooth, and easy tannins. Good finish. — 6 months ago

Three glasses that are a humble reminder that the drinker plays a role. Glass 1 is heavily aerated and I had a bite of spinach 2-3 bites ago, shows thin, harsh tannins and is borderline undrinkable. Glass 2 is not aerated, shows toasty wood, dark fruit, cassis, like a modern super-campanian well made but without too much tipicity. Glass 3 finally reveals some Aglianico character: muscular, herbal, earthy with the slightest touch of barnyard brett and a mint-tarragon finish signaling ripe pyrozines. Tannins are slightly more approachable now, best of the three. Short-lived bottle and still not a fan of the cab elements, but undeniably well made — 6 months ago
Deep garnet. Hawthorn, tart cherry, rose and tar, asphalt, forest floor, dried herbs, sanguine, oregano, thyme, fennel, rosemary. Well integrated acidity and tannins. Full body (14.5%). Great value 😍 called it Barolo La Morra (ignoring the dark color) #facepalm — 8 months ago

2015: Outstanding Aglianico. Dominated by gobs of darker red fruit earlier on before picking up tertiary leather and graphite flavors. Rich and mouth coating and already drinking well, but clearly will get increasingly complex over time. $50 on Delectable. — 4 years ago

Classic wine from a classic producer. Another stellar vintage of this outstanding wine! Dark ruby color with a slight garnet rim. Starts out a bit tight but opens beautifully. Aromas of black cherry/plum with hints of dried rose petals, rosemary, chai spices and garrigue. Palate shows more cooked black cherries and plums with notes of bay leaves and baker’s chocolate. Touches of dried earth, minerals and smoke on the long and luxurious finish. Full bodied and noticeable tannins that will continue to soften with time. Beautifully balanced. Stellar! Nice selection, Keith S! Revisited in April 2024. Fabulous! — 5 months ago

Finally, this wine got into the zone.
The savory austerity and rugged masculinity melted into the wine to reveal a lovely balanced (and maybe even elegant) beauty. — 4 months ago
