I love trying 'out of the ordinary' grape varieties! Pinot Bianco (also known as Pinot Blanc in French) is the cousin of Pinot Noir and you guessed it, it's a white grape! This Calabria Private Bin Pinot Bianco hails from NSW's Riverina region and sells for $15.
It's a crisp sandy colour on the eye. The nose is tickled by scents of straw, aniseed spices oranges and a certain savoury citrus character. Fresh & light on the palate. It literally tip toes across the palate but leaves a memorable savoury taste. A big thanks to Calabria for this wee Christmas gift.
