Weltner
Hoheleite GG Riesling
Franken, Germany

This is the most accessible young Weltner GG I’ve ever had. Stunning aromas, sugar snap peas, intense but delicate and just gorgeous. Stunning. Stunning. Juicy and so complex and pure. Amazing finish. So complex. Amazing.

I love weltner. love. Love. Love. So underrated bc he’s in Franken.
Nose is screamingly mineral. Some lemon peel. A hint of Grapefruit perfume.
Palate is large sized pebbles. Angular in a good way. Has that hidden density. Pink grapefruit as it opens. Masterful. Masterful.
An hour in sweet rocks on the finish.
Bought from fass selections.

Plenty of weight here clearly a GG. I still prefer Riesling over Scheurebe although the aromatics can be close. There is this herbal edge to this which makes it unique. Hint of Sage wild heirloom apples. Quite tart almost tannic - give this some time - a beautiful wine.
