2009 Vino z Czech Cabernet Moravia - interesting cross between Cabernet Franc and Zweigelt from the Czech Republic. Cool wine. Reminds me of a medium bodied juicy Gamay.

Weird but dope. Smells like a cab sauv or cab franc. green peppercorn, deep fruit, menthol. Drinks very light to medium. Bright acidity, tart red plum, peppercorns again excellent structure. 12,5%. Very interesting. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to see a totally different side of Cabernet. Correction: the grape is Cabernet Moravia. Offspring of Cabernet Franc and Zweigelt.

Earthy and complex without being too bold. Nice pairing wine!

From a little research, it appears this bottle is actually a grape that's a cross between Cabernet Franc and Zweigelt (i know, be still your beating heart). It was perfect with the Slovak food at the Riverside Restaurant in the Chicago suburbs. The wine featured a berry forward nose, with deep earth notes underneath, a balanced tannin to acid structure, and a touch of herbaceousness.

Mushrooms and old world mustiness. Good with food, a little strong alone.
