Almaviva Puente Alto Red Blend

The nose is nice, but shy. From it, you can feel the ripe fruit, but you would never guess the beautifully structured wine that follows. Very long, silky and full bodied. Nice green apple surprise when the wine evolves. Will be remembered with a smile.

Delicious. Seems much younger — many guessed 2010 or 11. Lots of juicy ripe fruit, good composure, and perhaps a touch of heat. Super enjoyable...

Delicious and clearly well made wine. You can definitely pick up on the South American characteristics like the green pepper on the nose. Deep purplish color, and definitely a big bodied wine. It's just hard to justify the price point from a wine from down there. Nonetheless, enjoyed it thoroughly.

Alas, I waited just a little too long to crack this one. Still fab, but a little over-developed.

Went nicely with the spiced skirt steak. Still very tasty, with subdued black fruits and silky smooth tannins.

Part of a 2002-2004 vertical. The 2003 stood out but all were delicious wines.

Blown away by this wine. Even better than earlier tastings as it matures.
