A meaty, mulled fruit nose. The palate starts with a rush of American oak and dark fruit, with the fruit building, supported by tobacco, cola, and black tea notes with a hint of licorice. High alcohol, but not off putting. Medium plus tannins and high acid. Matched perfectly with bbq pork ribs.

Delicious zin from the top of Napa. Dark plum and chocolate with a great mouth feel. Could have kept it cellared for another 5 years, but it was a great pairing for some BBQ.

Mulled and grilled dark fruit nose with charred fruit notes. Big dark fruit forward on the palate transitioning to molasses and caramel. A medium acid finish with the molasses lingering. It can use decanting to open up. Like most Zins, this wine cries out for a food pairing, and is too fruity for my tastes as a stand-alone sipping red.
