This juicy essence of Malbec boasts terrific violet lift to its pristine aromas and flavors of blackberry and spices. Fine-grained, sharply delineated and intense, this weightless Malbec, made entirely without oak, finishes savory and persistent. An energetic fruit bomb with great gulpability. $15.00 (Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, September 2019)

Huge almost Welch’s grape juice flavor going on. Super light body and was interesting to try an unoaked Malbec. Wasn’t a favorite and probably wouldn’t buy again but fun to try something new and different. Big fruits up front and light vinegar on finish which was slightly off-putting.

I love their other Malbecs so I tried this out of curiosity, the value is in the learning experience more than the wine for me. The nose is fruity but it’s not balanced, alcohol and acidity overtakes the fruit in the beginning, then tannins come in, no body or fruit flavor to speak of until the finish. I like the subtle earthiness and ripe berry on the finish, but I needed more from this while actually drinking it. I did aerate, possibly not enough.
