Pronounced alcohol on the nose. On the palette: mid-season blackberries (not overly ripe), and leather. Smoke, spice, and white pepper also emerge after a few seconds in the mouth. High tannins and acid with a slight licorice finish. Worked well with tomato-based ragu—cleared the fat but stood out on its own in the finish. Needs to decant for a while before drinking (2hr). Serve at cellar temp, just a little below room temp. 13.5% ABV.

A rather tannic, spicy Aglianico (as expected). Cigar box, cocoa powder, figs, raspberries, violets, balsamic, and chiseled stone. The tar comes on strong, but fades after stretching out in the glass. If you'd rather waste your money on cheap Chianti..please do. I'll stock up on this.

Basic aglianico with some rough edges. Sulfur-y smoke, candle wax, and dark chocolate on the nose with rich black fruit and big tannin on the palate.. Settled down after a while in the glass, but definitely needs food.

Big, chewy tannins and a warm black cherry note, great for the price

Smells like nail polish. Quick finish. Dry.

This is a nice wine that will not break the bank. Another person stated this in their review that there is a hint of paint smells with a good swirl but somehow it works with this wine. I'd like to see a longer finish and a stronger mouth feel but it delivers fully. Great wine with friends.

2011 - A bit too strong and lingering of tar and chocolate for my everyday taste; yet, drinkable
