Tonight I have opened the 2008 Tamarack Cellars Firehouse Red. I have been sitting on this for awhile. This is a blend of 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Syrah, 16% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, 3% Malbec, 3% Sangiovese, 3% Petit Verdot and 1% Carmènere. A different kind of blend but nice none the less.

On the nose the is lots of jammy dark fruit, black raspberry, black cherry, black plum, black currant, mocha, licorice, sweet tobacco, herbs, pencil shavings, menthol and wet soil.

On the palate are big dark plummy fruit, black cherry, blackberry, black plum, black currant, licorice, chocolate, herbs and menthol.

The wine is well balanced full bodied red silky smooth with medium + acidity, medium + grainy tannins with a long finish that carries the fruit with it. After 9 years this wine has a lot of life left that will easily at least go another 10 years.

On this 4th of July weekend I urge that we all take precautions to stay safe and enjoy the holiday. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷
