I had not had a Listan Negro before. Canary Islands. El Chibirique. Valle de la Oratava. Minerally, tannic, sort of funky. Different. Light to medium body.

Suertes is one of my favourite producers but this wine is a disapointment. It has all the volcanic characteristics that I love but is low in fruit and unbalanced. Maybe ageing is needed but i doubt it. Choose instead: the 7 fuentes! Great wine and great value. Please have in mind that I’m a mere amatuer and this rating is just my opinion. Trenzado, Vidonia, el Lance and 7 fuentes are all great wined from this producer but Chibirique aint one - IMO.

W&S Top 100. I didn’t ask if they had the black lava rock vine pits. I can see it in my head. It’s a fine view.
