Big bold, jammy and dense. Great fruit especially for just being opened 15 min before drinking. Would like to have it after a few hours.

10 in 19. So tight and dense on opening. After an hour decant, still needed more. Should age another 10yr easy. Deep Electric violet-burgundy in color. Pencil lead, cranberries and sweat. Cranberries and bitter chocolate on the palate. Lip shriveling dry. Rooibos tea. After two hours add, baked orange rind and raspberry.

@Stagsleap #wine #PetiteSirah was label I bought with my first paycheck in the industry (1997 vint) circa 2001. The vintage has changed, but is still a staple just the same.

Opaque in the glass. Minute ruby color at rims edge. Oily sheen.

Some herbs on the nose. Dull mint and oregano. Robust and dense.

The palate is sleek with tannins landing mid palate to finish. Nicely incorporated. Boysenberry with damp earth. Inky and stinky, it shows some potpourri (olfactory), and subtle bitterness residual. Balanced and great lingering flavor. Opened 12/10/15

Black raspberry and not much else, but clean, balanced, and paired wonderfully with smoked Gouda.

I found this vintage to be slightly muddy and less elegant than is typical.
