Jan 12th, 2016Dark cherry in the glass with a wide brim. Cherry, cranberry, and a good dose of smoke on the nose. Plush mouthfeel but dry, oh so dry. With almost half Mourvedre, you’re expecting a heavier and more full bodied wine but this is light on its toes. The fruit hits on the palate initially but earth and more savory elements quickly take over. Olives, oak, wet earth, and spices are predominate. This is one of those wines I could drink for any occasion and all day long. I love everything David Ramey touches and this is no exception.

Apr 13th, 2017Meaty, muddled brambleberry with a hint of smoke and alcohol. The palette is intensely sour and unapologetically dry - the black, bramble fruit eventually catches up, but it gets pushed out of the way by earth almost immediately. This one could use some serious time decanting. It's almost 50% Mourvèdre, which is different, but I'm not familiar enough with the grape to know what I should be looking for.

Murky cranberry appearance. Heavy fruit character if plum, grape lollipop, very concentrated, light wood tannins help but the fruit is dominant, decent acidity, lacks a structure, not jammy with a relatively clean finish. Meh 2.75

Dec 10th, 2016Delicious Rhoneish! Fantastic GSM blend that is so perfectly drinkable now. Classic California with a southern rhone Chateaunuef du pape backbone. This is a wine I could drink everyday! Went great with all the food we tried tonight... Perfect for a cheese course at the end of the meal.
