Surprise Surprise - gift from Kansas, this is a varietal called Petite Pearl, developed for cold weather climates, reminded me of some Chambourcin & Norton that I’ve had domestically. Tons of personality: loads of spice, dark berried fruit, cocoa, herbal, licorice & menthol, just really impressive aromatics followed by soft plush fleshy mid-palate flavors mirror nose. Could have more structure & acidity, but still went down smooth leading to dry [modest] finish.
