The nose is dominated by oak and vanilla. Fruit is very much in the background.
The oak-monster raises its ugly head on the palette. Tannins and structure of this wine are very good. However, there is a sweetness and purity which is, regretfully, overwhelmed by the oak treatment. I docked several points due to this. It's still an excellent example, though.

a little thin. soft tannins but not much acid.
but, then... opened beautifully after 30 mins and was very good. paired with a big ass ribeye.

Ha, spent three days on this wine and thought I had pulled the 2006 until I saw the vintage when I took the photo. Beautiful wine over three nights, although probably best on night one. I’d drink this over the next two years.
