Apparently Rodney Strong is not strong enough for my taste. It's... ok. I had high hopes, considering I usually don't spend $14 on a bottle of wine, but I was in a celebratory mood. It lacks that aroma that fills your mouth and nose when you take a sip. In a way it's flat like that. It isn't bad either, but there are better options given the price point. It was... meh.

Currants, cassis, and black cherry up front. Sweet French oak, dusty tannins, and black pepper on the finish. Gets better as it opens in the glass. Great with a loaded burger.

Classic California CS from Sonoma from what seems like a second great vintage in a row. This ones classic, full of dun ripe red and black fruits, vanilla, cherries , plums and sweet cedar. Full body, with pleasant yet dry tannins, a good supporting acidity and fruit forward long finish. My score 87, drink to 2019

How a cab should taste. Flavors of mild berry with rich earth and a pleasant spice for the finish.

Deep purple in color with a purple rim.

Nice nose of oak, vanilla, licorice, cloves, blackberries, cherries, plums, metals, sage, spices and peppercorn.

Full bodied with medium acidity and a harsh mouthfeel.

Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, cassis, earth, cedar, vanilla, cloves, tobacco, coffee, bitter almonds, green vegetables, bitter herbs and black pepper.

Medium finish with firm tannins and tart strawberries.

A Drinkable Cabernet for the middle of the week. Average at best. Unbalanced and not very elegant. I liked the nose more than the palate. Might be better in a year or two.

Would be best paired with BBQ Meats. I've had this before, and actually liked it better, so maybe this is a bad bottle...

13.5% alcohol by volume.
