This wine is awesome. Dense. The fruit is so deep, dark and layered. north of the Lytton estate, on the western edge of the Alexander Valley in Geyserville. All of this Carignane was planted between 1920-1950’s. Really good wine that has a long life in front of it.

Is there such a thing as: fresh cut grass scented black cherry caramel popcorn? Mouth-watering fresh acid. The color is incredible. Far western edge of Alexander Valley, 13 acres of Carignane planted between 1927 and 1950. pure black cherry, fresh cut grass that reminds me only of Zinfandel. Caramel that I typically associate with Petit and Alicante but not after tasting this in barrel. Beautifully simple but not a Basic Bitch. I would Blind it as a field blend or Zin. Good stuff, put it in a decanter, curious to see what 72 hours does

Not for me. Too sour. Ridge notably does Carignane better than most, but it's still Carignane. Perhaps the beer hipsters will get off their sour hoppy smoked gose kick and drink this. But...

A nice summer red. Not a whole lot going on, but did pick up some character it's second night.
