This Washington Syrah is really stinky, but some definitely love that.

Showing black fruits with earth, wood, spices, barnyard, vegetables, tobacco leaf and dark coffee.

Full bodied with medium acidity.

Short finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries.

Fruit forward with some earth notes, that make it interesting.

Needs 3 hours to open up properly so be patient.

Would be interesting to try it in 3 years.

92 points Robert Parker. 90 points Wine Spectator.

A blend of 92% Syrah and 8% Grenache Blanc.

13.4% alcohol by volume.

90 points.

$65.

Disappointing. Perhaps a bad bottle but if so, I cannot identify this flaw. When first opened, there was a odd flavor that dissipated with air. But the resulting intense wine was dominated by licorice and plum flavor that was unbalanced and overwhelming. Just not as good as the other Reynvaan Syrahs. It felt like it was over-macerated to create a wine that was too strong.

Comparé avec la cote-Rotie, un peu plus viandé, lard fumé.

From the vineyard in the rocks and blended with 8% Grenache Blanc, this is a more nuanced wine than I’m accustomed to from Reynvaan! Gave it a nice decant and, while the funk was present, it blew off quickly. The GB was perceptible in the lighter color and medium body of the wine.

Fantastic expression of Washington Syrah, decanted for two hours, which made all the difference in the world. Ridiculously drinkable wine by itself.

Happy Easter & Happy almost end of Passover to everyone out there. This wine and lamb were transcendent.

An excellent full bodied Syrah. 2014 is a little young at this point so the loads of fruit haven't had time to develop character and nuance. Very much enjoyed this wine and look forward to opening up the other bottles later in their life span. Great if you can find for <60$. Get now though as I think the tasting notes will show this to be outstanding!

As expected, gorgeous aromatics. Extremely soft & on the sweet side like most of the Syrahs from this crowd.
