A medium bodied wine that was best straight out of the bottle as there was some attractive tar and tobacco that faded to reveal sweeter flavors of plumb and spice. An attractive wine from Ratti, a grandee in Barolo. (This wine was enjoyed at Maison Pickle in the UWS - handily family friendly in the day and quite hip in the evening. If cocktails are your thing then their Smoke and Fire is surely the way to go).
