Cork wet. I had to push it through. Some brickish color but still some depth. Beautiful nose with clear signs of maturation but still very much alive. Not super vibrant or concentrated but very elegant with wonderful notes of fresh sour cherry. Etheral and very easy drinking.

1982 Lopez de Heredia Vina Tondonia Rioja. Dinner w D&M H and B&K K at Woo. Drank this after the ‘82 Vina Real, which was more balanced. This wine was thin at first, but opened up after a little while in the glass.

1982 Lopez de Heredia Rioja. Drank at Red O. Interesting. When we first poured this, we thought it might have been stored incorrectly- funky, sharp nose and super short finish. The wine changed markedly in the following minutes and was phenomenal for the next hour. Ultimately, the wine went flat, but it was super mild and pleasant to drink through dinner. Surprised that there was still a bit of fruit on the nose, pencil shavings, and tons of funky earthy notes.
