Not many better "regular" Douro Tinta wines, but then again this consistently performs at a level above its basic Douro designation. At around $18-23 USD this is a perennial over achiever and model of approachable young Douro that is expressive and a little finer in texture so it's ready to go but can be aged 5-8 years easy. Red to dark red fruits, spice and a stony schist component add complexity on the nose and palate with good acidity.
Tasted at Quinta do Vale Meao 10/16/2015, tasted at opening and 1.5 hours later.

Not much on the nose, but excellent going down. Slightly acidic finish.

Nicely balanced red blend. Decent red fruit, not too sharp. Little bit of jam, light tannins, but overall just an easy-drinking red table wine.

Such a gratifying wine to drink slowly. This has the accessibility of a new world wine but with the complexity and evolution of better old world wines. Agreed that this should be given at least an hour to open up. After that it's almost too easy to enjoy.

One of the most consistent Douro wines that is readily available stateside... on the nose, black fruit, baking spice and vanilla. In the mouth, dark dark fruit, mushrooms and forest, cloves and oak. Tannic midpalate, decent acidity. Slight heat from the alcohol on the finish. Big wine that could use some decanting.
