Surprised by how good this was. Not much experience with 1986, will never fully resolve the tannins, but beautiful fruit, secondary, wonderful Nebbiolo at this level.

Gorgeous stuff. Tobacco, leather, and roses. Softer, more elegant than the 93 riserva from last week.

Roasted a big pork shoulder and went back to ‘86. The fruit is still alive! Sour cherry, cranberry, with prunes under. A little animal and mushroom aging...long floral finish... finally decanted properly and was worth the trouble!
