Dark garnet , secondary notes definitely coming through licorice tobacco dark cooked fruits. Bold, med plus tannins, med acidity. Long finish drinking very nicely after decanting for an hour. Opening up in glass!

Just your average Wednesday meatball night! Riveting wine. Dense and austere on opening but evolves into being light on its feet. Smoky cherry, berries, hint of racy exotic fruit, roast game, chocolate, leather, cedar and very mineral driven on the palette. Tannins are very fine and color is turning. A real beauty

20 years old & still drinking well. But drink it deliberately as it will begin to fade after 45 minutes open.
Nose of ripe fruit, tobacco, & a bit of spice. There is plenty of raisin/ripe cherry on the palate with initial strong tannin that softens and underlies the still velvety structure of the wine. It is a fully mature wine that should be consumed now as it will begin to fade in 2022.

Bold and beautiful wine at its peak. Opens (after 40 minutes decanted) to dark, smokey cherry fruit with a touch of leather and soft, long finish.

Drank 4/3/16 with ravioli, meatballs and garlic bread. It was a wonderful bottle from the start. We decanted it after running through the aerator.
