Birth year bottle 2! Really impressed with the amount of fruit that was still left in this wine at 40 years. It was a little bit retarded at first after a 40-year slumber, but after about 20 minutes this one was ready to go. I honestly was not getting much fruit out of the nose, as I was getting more of a soy sauce, leather, dried tobacco, clove. Entry had a mixture of black cherry, mushroom, fig, clove. Middle is where this one started to show more of the black cherry and red fruited side of things. Finished with extremely tame acidity compared to these wines at less than 10 years which almost seem to have much more of an enamel-ripping quality. Still extremely expressive. Although I don't think this one is on a significant decline oh, I really don't I think it will appreciate in the bottle. Still, I think it will hold pretty much where it is for another 3 to 5 years.
