Saint-Joseph Syrah

I’m really hoping this is in a difficult stage. Much richer than I was anticipating. Lacked the energy to carry everything through the finish which was short. The flavor profile and aromatics were very northern Rhône though.

Archetype for #saintjoseph and for #northernrhône #northernrhone #syrah salted cured meats smoke herbal and juicy. Loved it.

Opened gorgeously dark, fat and alluring and seemed to tense up after a few hours, recoiling into bright, dusty, spicy red fruit and florals. Don’t drink this yet

dried purple flowers, smoked meat, bacon ...starting to dig the N Rhone!

Meaty and metallic plump dark fruit with black olive notes. (Passion Fish in Monterey)

First, mortal bottle chez Gonon. Slightly spritzy, soda-pop style seemingly indicating instability and diluting focus, precision. Piscine style as slushie could be interesting. Have drunk '13 several times from both 750ml & 375ml and have never experienced a bottle in this condition previously.

Northern Rhône Syrah at this price doesn't get much better. I just wish more was available.

My kind of Syrah. Great intensity of flavor. Almost Cornas like.
