Wonderful notes of wet concrete, ripe strawberry, and baking spices on the nose. Medium bodied (so for a grenache maybe on the heavier side), light tannins and a beautiful ruby color greet you at every sip. On the palette the strawberry notes are intense, and I would call this a “boozy” grenache as the alcohol is quite punchy. The strawberry notes are coupled with dried meat, white pepper and hints of red plum. Yum!

Tastes kinda weird to me. The 2008 version was one of my favorite bottles of Grenache ever, but the 2012 is pretty hot on the mouth from the alcohol and lots of eucalyptus and peppermint taste with a hint of the burgundy barnyard element. No strawberries at all which I usually enjoy with Grenache.

Wonderful white pepper, red grapefruit and lychee throughout, some cedar lingering on the mid palette; excellent varietal character. Garnet color, slightly funky, spivey nose, and kinda hot at 15.9%!

Lots of overripe tropical fruit, banana skin, apple skin, clove, grape stems. Was quite hot, alcohol was borderline overbearing. Going give it a day and see if some of the overripe character blows off.
