Evolving faster than one would hope. Nose was fantastic with med + intensity and clear notes of rose, truffle, crushed stones, ripe black and blue fruit, and an exotic zing. Firm tannins, low acid, and high abv lead to an off balance palate. Complexity lacked with all notes muted. Medium finish. I am a little puzzled and don't know if this wine will come together with age and extended decant or not...?

Monthly wine group met up and had an Italian wine night at one of the local Italian BYOB spots. Really fantastic Italian wines were brought, as well as some random bottles that were outside the theme (but worthy of opening regardless of theme).
Awesome Barolo brought by @Colby Siratt . This didn’t get the benefit of a long decant like the others, but it still tasted great. Bouquet on this was gorgeous...raspberries, roses, espresso. Bing cherry, leather and herbs round out the palate. This will improve over the next few years.

Loved this Barbaresco coming from a Barolo producer. One of the few who can vinify it in barolo becaise of historical roots. Lovely! Gallina cru is the best! #neive #barbaresco #oddero #lamorra 2011 vintage

Wow. This is what you want from a young barolo: delineated aromatics, fine tannins. The usual barolo package is there (rose menthol) but the overall impression is of effortless elegance. Damn i wish i had bought more.
