It is interesting to note that Neipoort crafts primarily Port wines, so this dry red table wine that is a field blend from 70+ year-old vines is intriguing. The nose is almost Port-like with deep perfumy notes of plums, sultana, roasted black cherry, expresso and liqueur and spice…leaning toward, cardamom and white pepper. Silky on entry, yet totally gutsy and dry, with a core of fruit wrapped in refined tannins and moderate acidity. Dried apricot on the finish.

Rich and ripe but not overly so and with very good balance, I quite enjoyed it.
