This vintage if the Meritage style blend didn’t amaze me like recent years. It’s good on opening and has a dense dark fruit and spice nose. Merlot/Cab Sauvignon/Malbec/Petit Verdot. The palate is spicy dark fruits of plum, some cherry, blackberry and a hint of blood orange and a bit of leather and tobacco. But something seemed off for me. I then read the tasting notes and they suggested notes of goat cheese - I hate goat cheese! - mystery solved! The overall experience from start to long finish was a nice balance of juicy acidity and soft tannins.
