Second red to sample from Mayo Family Winery. Dark and deep blood red. Initially very tight on the nose. Gave it a couple hours to open up and then it was ready to play. Leather, dried tobacco leaves, chalk, savory with some grilled herbs, cranberries, black cherries and some cloves. Very complex and intriguing nose. Palate had some layers built in too, starting with some dark cocoa and cherries, a slight tangy feeling on our tongues with some cherry cola. Cola texture too. Moderate tannins (6/10) with some solid acidity rounding it out. Moderate bodied and long finish. This wine opened up really nicely over time. It started out all tight, dark and heavy and opened to some brighter acidity and red fruits. Great wine and worth checking out. Drink till 2025.

Rustic and interesting. Started a bit rough but opened up and almost had a port flavor with tobacco and golden raisins. Worth a try definitely.
