A treat from MH! Marc Delienne’s La Jacarde is a true unicorn with just 300 bottles produced in 2019. Rarity aside, the wine was brilliant - pure, fresh, and complex. Started off with some matchstick reduction which blew away in the glass to reveal intense notes of pear, citrus, and baked pastries. The palate was rich and textural, but balanced with a refreshing yet non-searing acidity. White nectarines, quince, ripe lemons, and hints of hazelnuts, followed by yoghurt and cream in the mid-palate, and finally ending with spices and a fine stoniness. There was a fullness and smoothness to the wine, yet not at the expense of vibrancy - just such a delectable balance.

NB: It may seem a little predictable (though sensible) to say this of a Beaujolais blanc, but it was really reminiscent of a excellent Mâconnais white to me.
