For more than 75 years, the Martini family winemakers have crafted wines from Sonoma and Napa counties. Today, Michael Martini, 3rd generation carries on the tradition. 100% Cab, aged in French oak (75% new) for over 2 years. Tight concentrated fruit flavors, complex with a gentle smokiness. Flavors of blackberry and currants with an earthy character adding a network of spices. Tight tannins not ready to release, big finish, lingering to a tobacco ending. Needs way more time, but very nice. Tasting Sample.

Christmas dinner wine. Outstanding. Glad I have one more of these. Did not take notes unfortunately, but do recall smooth silky wrap around tannins. Showed complexity despite age. Popped and poured. Would have been even better if we had allowed for time in the decanter.

Fruit forward, but well balanced. Hints of Black Cherry and Currant. Nice finish.

94+ Louis martini killing it recently. This seems richer than the 12. While the Alexander valley is a soft lush wine with great flavor, this monte Rosso brings a punch of structure (this needs time). The Alexander valley (I gave it 93pts) is a hugeeeee value but the monte Rosso delivers for the price as well. Great sub-100 cab from a historic vineyard. I need to compare this to the lot 1. I've preferred this over the lot 1 in the past but I haven't opened my 2012 and 100 pt 2013 lot 1.

Smooth, mild, smells like a dolphin aquarium. Mild tannins, medium body. This guy ain't writing home about this one.

Super tannic, nice bold nose but you would think it is a young wine. Old liquorice palate.
