Kukeri Wines Proprietary Red Blend Howell Mountain 2020, Napa Valley, California

It's time for some Merlot on this
#MerlotThursday.

Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.

Full bodied and bold, with medium acidity and long legs.

Showing black currants, plums, black cherries, oak, light vanilla, spices, dark chocolates, tobacco leaf, dried meat, herbs, light earth, peppercorn and cinnamon.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a delicious red blend from Howell Mountain. Still extremely young, but already very tasty.

Rich, but not 'in your face' kind of wine. Nicely balanced and opulent with nice complexity.

Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years. Would be nice to revisit it in 5 years.

Probably needed a couple of hours to open up properly, but I didn't have that luxury, as the bottle finished way too fast.

I paired it with dried meats.

A blend of 45% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, and some Cabernet Franc and Petite Verdot. Aged in French oak barrels for 19 months. A tiny production of only 6 barrels produced.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$65.
