A little funky and a lot satisfying. There was a lot of floaty, algae-like sediment that was impossible to completely decant out. A little funk on the nose adds a twist to some very classic smoky/gravelly earthiness and macerated choke cherry fruit. Soft textured and nicely balanced. The flavors are sultry. Clingy dark dark cherry and leathery earth. Lowish acids, but that doesn't detract. Probably peaking, I'd say.

Grippy tannin, red plum, sage brush, tobacco, aniseed and black pepper. Awesome wine, would still benefit from a year or two
